Edit me!The universe of the Internet was popularized to many by the existence of the World Wide Web, the network of data woven with HTML, "Hypertext Markup Language." This world within the Internet brought was awe inspiring to a great amount of people, even back when it was only a set of directories and text. Of course, as we now know, these directories and text files are much more exiting, being full of images, sounds, and eye catching formatting.
As did the old Web, however, today's Web is not only losing pace with the attention span of today's surfers, but is also falling short of the expectations of the professional. Static images, looping sound, fixed text can only be so interesting and HTML can only provide so many services from the commercial world. As a result of these realizations, several developers devised ways to alleviate this problem. Web programming languages, such as JavaScript, VBScript, Perl, and even Python were implemented to give the World Wide Web the extra "Oomph" it required.
